Currently Indulging: The Beatles

My wife is a much bigger fan than myself, but I do find that I know quite a few of their songs - not to mention I actually enjoy their music. It's simple, it's catchy and it's classic.

Ah! Springtime! The time to again wear my Chuck Taylors and not have wet socks! It's getting warmer, but it's not warm; hopefully this means no more snow, but you can never be too sure these days; you know, global warming. Where the globe gets warm. I just want to know, who's globe is being warmed and why? How do they know how long to warm it for?

In other thoughts, I made a big purchase at Best Buy so that I could use a ten percent off coupon. Well typical me, I forgot to use it, so we went out later that night to use the coupon on my purchase from earlier in the day. I didn't read the fine print and it turns out you can only use it on certain items...items that no one would be buying anyway, so what's the point? I'm sure some people buy these items, just not me. Maybe I'm the one missing the point.

Gamer?

You betcha.

I'm currently playing Odin Sphere, a new game for the PlayStation 2. It's a throwback to 2D gaming of old (ah, the glory days) and I'm loving every second of it.

Each stage is set up in a Sphere (see the title?) and you can move around the sphere in whatever way you want to. Enemies appear in random places, you destroy them, then move to the exit. It's a little more complex than that, but that's the basic idea.

Did I mention it's a RPG? Well it is...

The item system is very interesting. You acquire plants that you - well, you plant. After you plant them, it takes a set amount of phozons (the 'souls' of the enemies you defeat) to cause the plant to grow and then produce fruit; fruit gives you life and experience, so growing plants is essential to making sure you don't expire. It sounds lame but it's actually pretty cool.

I mentioned that it's a 2D game - but I didn't mention the fact that it is quite possibly the best 2D game ever made. At least, it's the best 2D game I've ever seen.

Buy it.
